Summary of the 2019 Rally Terre des Causses :
The Terre des Causses rally is organised around the municipalities of Capdenac and Villeneuve in Aveyron from 6 to 7 April 2019. With no less than 126 teams involved, including 14 R5s, the land championship still attracts as many people as ever. It marks the beginning of the rally season on Earth and the launch of the 208 Rally Cup, the famous Peugeot Sport branded cup.
At the end of a particularly competitive first stage, Sylvain Michel (Skoda Fabia R5), the defending French champion, took the lead ahead of Thibault Durbec (Citroën DS3 WRC) at 8.5s. After a cautious start for his return to earth in 4WD, Yohan Rossel (Citroën C3 R5) gradually increased in power over the ES to finish the day in third place, 20.1s behind the provisional leader.
The second stage starts on Sunday morning with the ES 7. S. Michel and T. Durbec broke away in the lead, the fight for the final victory will be a duel between the two drivers, already used to the exercise in 2018. Y. Rossel is now content to manage third place. During ES 9, the Skoda driver, then in the lead and under pressure from T. Durbec (Citroën DS3 WRC), was forced to retire following a touchdown. The Citroën DS3 WRC driver took the opportunity to take the lead and win the 2019 Terre des Causses. In second place, Y. Rossel (Citroën C3 R5) made a fine performance by winning the R5 class while Lionel Baud (Citroën DS3 WRC) completed a 100% Citroën podium.
