Organized around Rodez from July 4 to 6, 2019, the Rallye du Rouergue is the fifth round of the French asphalt rally championship. It is a hard ordeal for men and mechanics, with high temperatures, winding and often degraded roads on which the melted tar, known as "black", sometimes resembles patches of ice. 15 competitors are involved in a very diversified R5 class, including three C3 R5s.
Concerned about getting back into the championship, Yoann Bonato (C3 R5) is the first to highlight himself by winning the first special event (ES) of the rally. Still performing well in a race he knows well, the driver of Les Deux Alples finished the first day in the lead, having set three scratch times. He was ahead of Nicolas Ciamin (+3.1s) and Yohan Rossel (+5.1s), very close gaps after more than 110 km of lap times.
During the second stage, the two C3 R5 drivers took the lead of the rally, setting good times, particularly in the famous Moyrasès special stage. Then at the head of the rally, Yoann Bonato abandons in ES9 and sees his direct competitor in the championship, Yohan Rossel, take the reins of the rally. The Gardois driver will not let them go, and thus wins an important victory in the race for the title of French champion, bringing his lead over his runner-up to 35 points.
