Benjamin Israel finishes runner-up at Gran Premio de Quillon 2019 in C3 R5

Benjamin Israel scores his first podium finish at the fourth round of the Chilean rally championship, finishing second at Gran Premio de Quillon 2019. This results confims his good start of the season, after a victory in San Juana in March.

2019 Gran Premio de Quillon highlights

Organised in the Nubé region (Chile) around Quillon the 8th and to the 11th of August 2019, the Gran Premio de Quillon saw 16 drivers competing in the diversified R5 category, among which 4 Citroën C3 R5 were engaged. The C3 R5 are driven by Benjamin Israel, Samuel Israel, Vicente Israel, all three from Chile, and Eduardo Costa (Peru).

The rally roads are similar to the ones we discovered during the Chile WRC event, with fast sections surrounded by trees. Jorge Martinez (Skoda Fabia) wins the first three stages of the rally, narrowly followed by Alejandro Cancio (Skoda Fabia) and Samuel Israel (Citroën C3 R5) less than 10s behind. At the end of Day1, he leads the rally while Benjamin Israel (Citroën C3 R5) is now in third position, with a 39s gap from the lead.

During Day2, rain arrives and makes road conditons more precarious, eventually surprising top pilots and forcing them to retire. At the end, Jorge Martinez wins the rally ahead of Benjamin Israel (C3 R5) and Pedro Heller (Fiesta R5). Vicente Israel (C3 R5) finishes fourth and Eduardo Castro (C3 R5) seventh.

2019 Rally Ferrol final classification
