Yohan Rossel and Benoit Fulcrand victorious in C3 R5 at the 2019 Rally du Rouergue!

Yohan Rossel, Citroën Racing official driver in the 2019 French Rally Championship, won his second race of the season in the Citroën C3 R5 (PH Sport), and increased his lead in the asphalt championship.

2019 Rally du Rouergue highlights

Organized around Rodez from July 4th to 6th, 2019, the Rally du Rouergue is the fifth round of the French asphalt rally championship. It is a hard trial for men and mechanics, with high temperatures, winding and often deteriorated roads on which the melted tarmac sometimes looks like patches of ice. 15 competitors are involved in a very diversified R5 class, including three C3 R5s.

Determined to get back into the championship, Yoann Bonato (C3 R5) is the first to show himself by winning the first special stage (SS) of the rally. Still performing well in a race he knows well, the driver of Les Deux Alples finished the first day in the lead, having set three scratch times. He was ahead of Nicolas Ciamin (+3.1s) and Yohan Rossel (+5.1s), very close gaps after more than 110 km of stages.

During the second day, the two C3 R5 drivers extended their lead in the rally, setting good times, particularly in the famous "Moyrasès" special stage. At the time leader of the rally, Yoann Bonato retires in SS9 and sees his direct competitor in the championship, Yohan Rossel, take the lead of the rally. The Gardois driver will not let them go, and thus wins an important victory in the race for the title of French champion, bringing his lead over his runner-up to 35 points.
